Antlers of a knocked-down red deer sawed off and taken away

After a collision between a car and a red deer on a provincial road near Ede, someone sawed off the dead animal’s antlers and took it with him.

Flora and fauna manager Victor Nuijten, who works in the forest and heath areas of the municipality of Ede, reports the event on Twitter. After the collision he was called up to handle everything.

Nuijten says he had to put the deer out of his misery. He then put it in the back of his car and went a few hundred yards away to talk to the driver who had hit the animal.

When Nuijten walked back to his car, he saw according to Gelderland broadcaster immediately that something had happened. “Someone turned out to have brutally sawed off the antlers.” Nuijten is outraged by the action. “It shouldn’t get any crazier.”
