Anti-Fraud Platform concerned about delivery of polling station material – Suriname Herald

The Anti-Fraud Platform (AFP) observed this morning with concern the delivery of ballot boxes and election materials to the Anthony Nesty Sports Hall. As in 2015, there appeared to be many open boxes, the AFP says.

The AFP says in a statement that it has just learned that the delivery procedure has suddenly changed. The polling station chairmen leave their material behind without checking and are told that they will be recalled at a later date if something is not right.

According to the AFP, this is yet another legal violation and an act that can also place the presidents of the polling stations in a legally liable position. The delay that this will entail is also unacceptable, the AFP believes.

It is important that the electoral process be completed as transparently and efficiently as possible and the sudden unilateral change of procedures makes it more difficult for society to understand. After all, voters are also entitled to have the election results as soon as possible, the AFP writes in the statement.

“We therefore ask the Central Electoral Committee to make it clear to society in this follow-up process of the election, what it can count on and on what term. We also count on the security of the dialing material to be increased. ”

The AFP will continue to monitor the process together with all other observers and the AFP hotline will remain active for the benefit of society as a whole, according to the AFP.
