Pharmacists near Moscow have found an active substance in flu drugs that can fight coronavirus, the TV channel reports “360”.Specialists from Khimki found out that aprotinin, which is used in drugs for influenza, acute respiratory viral infections and in medicines to treat problems with the pancreas, will help in the prevention of COVID-19. The new drug is planned to be produced in the form of a nasal spray. She clarified that the medical staff of the clinic of the Moscow Medical University used the drug for three months and did not become infected, despite working in the “red” zone with coronavirus patients. Yakubova warned that one should not immediately run to the pharmacy and buy medicines that contain this substance. She noted that a large-scale study is needed. It is planned for the coming months. The drug is expected to hit the market in the spring, and more than 17,000 new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Russia per day.
