Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Minister Hugo de Jonge (Public Health) again gave a press conference on Tuesday about the corona measures in the country. In this article we answer the questions that came in via our response platform NUjij.
Rutte spoke about “an urgent advice to invite a maximum of three people”. Is it mandatory or urgent advice?
Receive a maximum of one group of a maximum of three people per day, is the urgent advice of the cabinet. Children up to and including twelve years old are seen as exceptions. It is not checked whether people adhere to this advice. The police can intervene in someone’s home if there is a nuisance or if there is a danger to public health.
Do the same rules apply in a holiday home or bungalow as in your own home? Are you allowed, for example, with eight people in an eight-person bungalow?
That depends on how the group is composed. “A group may consist of a maximum of four people,” says the national government about holidays in their own country. “There is an exception for people who live at one address.”
Where does the index number ten per day come from for the IC admissions? Was that number previously mentioned or just thought up?
The signal value of ten IC recordings can be seen in the crownedhboard. At the moment, the average stands at 22 IC admissions per day. The government, RIVM and the GGDs have drawn up several signal values that indicate critical limits. If a signal value is exceeded, alarm bells will ring. In this way, timely action can be taken if necessary.
But there are also other signal values, such as those of the average number of positive tests per 100,000 inhabitants and the number of hospital admissions per day. The virus is considered under control if figures remain below the signal values for a long time.
The signal values are also linked to the risk levels (vigilant, worrisome, serious and very serious) indicated in the roadmap face the corona measures. The higher the signal values, the more drastic the measures.
Until when will the catering industry remain closed anyway? Is this January 15th?
No end date has been set for the mandatory closure of food and beverage outlets. “As soon as the number of IC admissions per day is back to ten, we can continue to look”, said Rutte about the opening of the restaurants. “We hope this can be done in mid-January.” Cafés are likely to stay closed longer than restaurants.
Why don’t they wear face masks during the press conference?
The masking obligation does not apply to, among others, persons who are part of a radio or TV broadcast, including Prime Minister Rutte, Minister De Jonge and the sign language interpreters. They do not have to wear masks during the broadcast, but they do again afterwards, if there is a mandatory masking at that location.
In addition, sign interpreters do not have to wear a mouth mask while interpreting because otherwise they will not be able to practice their profession properly. The exception does not apply to everyone. Cameramen, among others, must adhere to a masking obligation if it applies at the film location.
