Another train of the Breisgau-S-Bahn fails at the Kaiserstuhl – Gottenheim

Another commuter train on the Breisgau S-Bahn failed on Wednesday morning. Schoolchildren and commuters from the Kaiserstuhl to Freiburg were again affected.

Another morning commute on the Breisgau S-Bahn has failed. The connection between Endingen and Gottenheim was affected on Wednesday at 6.58 a.m. Many students from the Kaiserstuhl, but also commuters on their way to Freiburg, were affected.

A mother, whose child goes to high school in Breisach, contacted the BZ: “These train cancellations are always an immense stress for the children, especially when it comes to the new fifth graders who then have to get on a crowded train,” says Sabine Haussmann from Eichstetten. The ten-year-olds are small and have to squeeze into the gaps under the school bags of the older ones. Haussmann works as a nurse at the university clinic in Freiburg and has to do with corona patients: “I think it’s bad that no more wagons are made available during these times. This increases the risk of corona infection for commuters.”

The train confirms the cancellation. “The reason was a malfunction in the drive control unit,” said a spokeswoman. The driver was able to rectify the fault on the vehicle directly. From Btzingen the students could have used a bus.

“The railway is working with the manufacturer to tackle the problems at full speed. We are doing everything we can, for example, we are increasing maintenance,” said the spokeswoman. As early as Monday, a technical error resulted in a crowded train going from Breisach to Freiburg.
