The organizers of the tournament on their “Instagram” page report that in the “Zemgale” / LLU team, Covid-19 has been diagnosed in two people. However, the statement does not mention whether the persons in question are hockey players.

On Saturday, the team in Riga was scheduled to play against “Mogo” / LSPA, but this duel has been postponed indefinitely.

At the end of September, several Covid-19 cases were detected in another Premier League team in Daugavpils “Dinaburga”, as a result of which the unit was forced to postpone its next four games.

On September 28, in a conversation with the news agency LETA, the Secretary General of the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF) Viesturs Koziols said that the “Dinaburg” team will have to spend two weeks in quarantine, but after October 10 it will be decided on the postponed games.

Leading the tournament table with 11 points in seven duels “Olimp” / “Venta 2002”, the second place with ten points in six fights is for “Zemgale” / LLU team, but “Mogo” / LSPA and “Liepāja” also have the same number of points in seven duels. Next, in eight games, five points are for the Hockey School “Riga” and three – for “Prizmai” / IHS, while Daugavpils “Dinaburga” has been in four matches in four matches.

In the 2020/2021 season, OHL plays “Mogo” / LSPA, “Olimp” / “Venta 2002”, “Zemgale” / LLU, Hockey schools “Riga”, Daugavpils “Dinaburga”, “Prizma” / IHS and “Liepājas” teams.

Last season, eight teams played in the Latvian Super League, but in the 2020/21 season there will be one team less, because “Kurbads” will not play in the tournament.

The playoffs were not played last season, but “Olimp” was declared the winner of the local championship. The newcomer to the tournament won the decisive points after “Riga” did not come to the last match of the season with the “Kurbads” team.

With its success, the Olimp earned the OHL the opportunity to compete in the International Hockey Federation’s (IIHF) Continental Cup, but the international competition was canceled.
