PARENT-AMSTEL The number of newly diagnosed coronavirus (COVID-19) infections has increased again in Ouder-Amstel in the past two weeks compared to the previous measurement period. This is evident from the weekly update of the RIVM figures. The virus was diagnosed in 83 residents in two weeks (from September 30 to October 13). That is an average of 6 new infections per day. In the previous measurement period (from September 23 to October 6), the virus was detected in 65 inhabitants.
As a result, the current contamination rate in Ouder-Amstel has increased again from 463.4 to 591.8 per 100,000 inhabitants. The increase in the number of infections can also be seen in surrounding municipalities. In Amstelveen, the infection rate increased from 375.2 to 453.8 per 100,000 inhabitants and in Diemen from 601 to no less than 750.5 per 100,000 inhabitants.
AMSTERDAM The largest source of infection in our country remains unabated in Amsterdam. In the capital, in the past two weeks (from September 30 to October 13, 6,198 new corona infections were detected. In the previous measurement period from September 23 to October 6, this number was 4,773. The current infection rate in Amsterdam ran during the past week. then also further on from 546.9 to 710.2 per 100,000 inhabitants.
RURAL In the past week, 43,903 positively tested persons were reported nationally by the Municipal Health Services. The number of reports of COVID-19 has increased further in all regions and in all age groups. With over 16,000 more people who tested positive than in the previous week, there is an increase of 60 percent. To date, according to the RIVM, no effect can be seen of the national measures that took effect on September 29.
The number of people who had to be hospitalized because of COVID-19 has also increased further. In the past week, there were 1,114 hospital admissions to nursing wards of corona patients nationwide. That’s an increase of 40 percent from 803 hospital admissions in the previous week. The number of people admitted to Intensive Care with COVID-19 also increased. In the past week, 192 new admissions were registered in the ICU. In the week before, this was 122 admissions. An increase of almost 60 percent. In the past week, 150 COVID-19 patients died.
