Another Danish triumph! Pedersen clearly controlled the refugee spurt

The 26-year-old world champion from 2019 Pedersen started about half a kilometer before the finish line and easily beat both colleagues from the breakaway. Briton Fred Wright finished second, Canadian Hugo Houle took third place.

The peloton with aspirants for the overall championship reached the finish line behind another trio of riders with a loss of five and three quarter minutes to the winner. Jonas Vingegaard continues to lead the standings with a lead of 2:22 ahead of defending champion Tadej Pogačar from Slovenia. Third Briton Geraint Thomas is another four seconds back.

Australian Caleb Ewan, who collected five stage victories on the Tour during his career, was no longer fighting for the championship. After falling during today’s stage, just like last year, he gave up.
