Another consequence of global warming, which many Bulgarians have probably felt this summer if they have chosen to spend their holidays in Greece. The record heat has destroyed about 50% of this year’s mussel harvest, BNT reports.
Almost all the mussels that should have been ready for next season have also died.
Heat of 45 degrees in the shade and water temperature in places of 28 degrees, caused serious damage to marine life.
Local producers say they have recorded a zero year, and Greek taverns have stopped offering mussels in early August due to shortages.
