Who is the mole? returns on television on September 5 for an anniversary season, AVROTROS reports Monday Instragram.
The anniversary season is an extra season, in addition to the regular seasons that are always broadcast at the beginning of the year. The recordings of the anniversary broadcasts were made before the corona crisis.
Little is known about the interpretation of the anniversary season. Rumors have it that participants and moles from earlier seasons will play a role, but AVROTROS has not confirmed anything yet.
Due to the corona crisis, it is still unclear whether the 22nd season of Who is the mole? can be broadcast in early 2021. Preparations were halted in April; normally the program will be shot abroad in May, which has so far proved impossible.
At the end of May, director Rick McCullough hinted that recordings were coming abroad by posting a photo with a passport and a mask on social media. “I can’t promise anything yet, but we’re going to try,” he wrote. He previously expressed the hope that the 22nd season could continue despite the corona crisis.
AVROTROS previously informed NU.nl that the recordings will continue as soon as it feels safe for participants and the crew. This was not the case until the beginning of July.
The program’s twentieth season was completed in March this year. Buddy Vedder emerged as the winner. In contrast to previous years, the final took place without an audience due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
