Anies Baswedan Considering Stopping Transitional PSBB, Epidemiologist: It should be

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -Regarding the latest plans of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan, Head of the Department of Epidemiology, Faculty of Public Health, University of Indonesia, Tri Yunis Miko Wahyono, urged the DKI Government not to extend the PSBB transition phase again.

According to him, Anies’s steps to consider stopping the Transitional PSBB must be supported because the transmission of the corona outbreak is increasingly out of control in the capital.

Tri said the highest weekly cases that occurred in DKI had shown that the corona virus had begun to spread again. The government should have been able to quickly end this transitional period, without having to wait for the positive ratio above 10 percent and overload referral hospitals.

“It seems that the highest weekly cases have been exceeded during this transitional PSBB period. I urge to immediately stop the transitional PSBB as an effort to suppress the transmission of Covid-19.”

According to him, during this transitional period the cases of epidemic transmission were increasingly seen. This can be seen from the positive ratio that continues to creep up. At the beginning of the transition period, the positive ratio was only around 5 percent.

“Now the figure has been above 8 percent for several weeks. This shows that the epidemic is spreading,” he said.

Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan said the government was considering stopping PSBB transition if the transmission of the corona virus outbreak gets out of control.

The government will take an emergency brake policy or emergency break policy if the curve transmission of Covid-19 keep jumping.
