Angin Bannya Doang from Indonesia

Jakarta

The ‘sudden’ appearance Esemka ahead of the political year sparked reactions from academics and national political observers, Rocky Gerung. Rocky said the Esemka was a Chinese car that was packaged as if it were an authentic Indonesian vehicle.

Esemka previously made sure to be present at the Indonesia International Motor Show or IIMS 2023 exhibition. Interestingly, this is the first time they have been involved in a large-scale exhibition.

“It’s true, we are participating in IIMS this year according to reports from Dyandra. We will answer other questions together with other media at the exhibition later. Greetings from Esemka,” said Sabar Budhi when contacted by detikOto, recently.

Responding to this appearance, Rocky Gerung questioned the production activities at the Esemka factory. According to Rocky, excerpted from his official YouTube channel, the Esemka factory has been hidden until now.

“We’ve never heard of factory activity (Esemka), as if it was hidden, did you see magic being hidden? Well… suddenly there’s a car there, then people wonder how it’s possible? So it’s (the car) simsalabim , even though the logs are imported from China,” said Rocky quoted Monday (6/2).

Rocky suspects that the Esemka is a Chinese car that is claimed to be the national car. Because, according to him, in terms of capacity and capability, Indonesia is still not ready to produce vehicles independently.

“There is competition in the world where Indonesia cannot compete there. Yes, it must be suppressed. Never mind, just buy a car from China and pretend to be considered an Esemka. That’s called Esemka made in China,” he explained.

Not only that, Rocky guessed, Esemka is actually a Chinese brand operating in Indonesia. According to him, they brought a number of components and assembly equipment from China to Indonesia. Then in this way, people consider Esemka the national car.

“This is (considered) an Indonesian product, then it was opened, which part of Indonesia? So that was just the tire wind,” said Rocky.

It is known that Esemka Bima, which is the only Esemka product sold in Indonesia, only has 60 percent local content. This nominal is even lower than the Toyota Avanza, whose local content reaches more than 90 percent.
