Anger over unpaid dancers at Super Bowl halftime show | showbiz

The organizers have asked professional dancers to come to the show as volunteers, but require that they come to rehearse for seven days. In addition, no transport is arranged for the volunteers and they have to sign a non-disclosure contract that also prevents them from posting about the show on social media.

This year’s American football season finale halftime show is hosted by Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar. They are accompanied on stage by a large group of dancers who do get paid. But casting agencies have now approached other dance professionals to fill the field, without compensation and therefore with seven mandatory rehearsal days.

The protest was sparked by Taja Riley, who previously danced on the halftime show of Beyoncé, Bruno Mars and Coldplay in 2016 and the show of Jennifer Lopez and Shakira in 2020. She posted screenshots of the casting calls and received support from Heather Morris of Glee, among others. and Carmit Bachar of The Pussycat Dolls.
