Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati): OP after Motocross crash

Andrea Dovizioso actually wanted to use the guest performance as part of the regional motocross championship on the “Monte Coralli” course from Faenza to live out his passion for off-road driving and get going again in three weeks before the start of the season. However, a fall in the first run of the MX2 class caused an unexpectedly early end to the mission, which had been approved by Ducati.

Dovizioso took second place after the start, but then had to let some opponents go, so that he was ninth when he fell alone after a jump. The 23-time GP winner was able to drive back to his camper on his own, but he held his left arm to his body.

The 34-year-old Italian then made his way to the specialist Professor Porcellini, who found an injury to the left collarbone, the team said. This does not make surgical intervention absolutely necessary.

Nevertheless, Dovi decided to have an operation in Modena tonight to speed up the healing process and to be fit again in time for the start of the season, as the latest statement by the Reds says. The World Cup restart is planned for July 19 in Jerez, where the second showdown after the Corona compulsory break will also take place.
