Andalusia Day Algeciras celebrates 28-F with a video in tribute to Paco de Lucía and flamenco

The Algeciras City Council has published a video commemorative to celebrate Andalucia’s day, with the title Paco and Andalusia: a special anniversary. The video honors Paco de Lucia, whose death has recently passed seven years, and the flamenco dance and guitar students of the José María Sánchez-Verdú municipal school of music, dance and theater. The work can already be seen on the channels of the website of the Municipal Delegation of Culture and on all the social networks of the Algeciras City Council.

“For obvious reasons, derived from the health situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, we cannot celebrate these milestones publicly and in person as in previous years, but we cannot fail to remember them through this commemorative video, which with the Title of Paco and Andalusia: a special anniversary, we intend to value not only our beloved Andalusia, but also the immortal artistic and human heritage of one of the most illustrious and universal sons of this land, Paco de Lucía ”, explained the mayor of Algeciras, José Ignacio Landaluce.



For her part, the Deputy Mayor delegate for Culture, Pilar Pintor, explained that the students from the flamenco and guitar classrooms participate in the video. municipal school of music, dance and theater José María Sánchez-Verdú, directed by Mercedes Alcalá and José Manuel León, respectively, who also take part in this video, together with the special collaboration of the cantaora Alicia Carrasco.
