And Eddie Rama jumped on Sofia in Brussels

After arriving at the EU summit in Brussels, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama reiterated that it was a shame that a NATO country, Bulgaria, was “holding hostage” two more members, McFax was quoted as saying by dir.bg.

“Sofia is blocking Northern Macedonia and Albania on their European path at a time when a hot war is raging in Europe and 26 countries are sitting quietly and showing their helplessness,” Rama said.

He told reporters that this is a new day in Europe, but not in Bulgaria. He said that Albania knows that Bulgaria is on its European path, but will not change its course, that it will continue to build Europe at home.

“Open Balkans” is a real response to the situation in which we continue on the path of integration, because we have no alternative, he added.

Asked whether Kosovo should join the Open Balkans, Rama said the initiative is open to all. According to him, Albania is doing its part, implementing reforms and will continue not only because Brussels demands it, but also because future generations demand it.

Asked if he supports Ukraine’s candidate status, Rama recalled that Northern Macedonia has been a candidate for 17 years, Albania for eight years and that Ukrainians should not have many illusions.
