Before the match, Carlo Ancelotti made sure he wouldn’t make any major changes. The Italian coach has learned from previous mistakes.
Last season, Real Madrid, without Karim Benzema in El Clasico, tried to field Luka Modric as a false nine. The strategy did not go well and Real Madrid lost 0-4 to Barcelona.
“I’m not going to tamper with what’s already there, you can bear it,” Ancelotti said at a pre-match press conference.
“The last time I tried to create something they punched me. So we won’t do anything extraordinary on Sunday.”
“We will play as usual. They are great rivals and we have to be at the top of our game,” said Ancelotti as reported by Reuters.
