Analyst: iPhone 14 Has a 48MP Camera and 8K Video

Apple will stop making the 5.4-inch iPhone mini starting next year.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has issued a comprehensive report on Apple’s movements in the next few years. Starting with the ranks iPhone 14 next year which will consist of two 6.1-inch iPhones and two 6.7-inch iPhones.

This means that Apple will stop making iPhone mini 5.4 inches starting next year. While there will still be an iPhone 13 mini in 2021, it’s expected to be made in smaller numbers. Apple needs to cut down on iPhone 12 mini manufacturing orders due to lower-than-expected interest.

Reporting from GSM Arena, Thursday (15/4), the iPhone lineup in 2022 will feature two iPhones with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens and two iPhone Pros with the same 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens.

The iPhone Pro is expected to get a new 48MP main camera, which can produce 12MP images with a large 2.5 micrometer pixel spacing. Currently the main camera of the iPhone 12 produces 12MP photos with a pitch of 1.7 micrometers. Kuo predicts the iPhone 13 will retain the 12MP resolution, but bring the pixel size down to 2.0 micrometers thanks to a slight increase in sensor size.

The iPhone 14 2022 lineup is expected to start shooting 8K videos. The move to the periscope zoom camera that is rumored to occur in 2023 and will likely only occur on the iPhone Pro models. Kuo also believes Apple could bring an under display Face ID solution in 2023.

Apple is expected to reduce the size of Face ID notches this year, by about 10 percent.

Then for the Apple VR headset, Kuo said it could have up to 15 cameras – both outside and inside. The reason is to measure the position of the person wearing the headset in the outside world and monitor their movements, but also to monitor their eye movements.

This will allow Apple’s VR headsets to use a technique called foveated rendering – creating the area a person sees, not the entire field of view. Apple’s VR headset is likely to come next year.
