On August 13 and 15, the concert hall “Latvija” invites everyone interested to experience Closing concerts of two new Latvian jazz music recording sessions, which will take place in cooperation with the jazz and improvised music publishing house “Jersika Records”.
Starting from August 10, the Great Hall of the concert hall “Latvija” will turn into an analog recording studio. There will be two recording sessions in a row, each ending with a public performance. Thursday, Aug. 13, at 19.00 music lovers are invited to witness the end of Kristaps Vanadziņš ‘trio recording session, but on Saturday, August 15, at 19.00 with a concert and a meeting with the listeners, the recording of the project “listen” will end. It is planned that the performance of both groups will see daylight in vinyl record format under the auspices of Jersika Records in the spring of 2021.
Kristaps Vanadzins trio composed of one of the brightest representatives of modern jazz music – composer and pianist Kristaps Vanadzins, percussionist Rūdolfs Dankfelds and double bassist Jānis Rubiks. The three fundamental cornerstones of the philosophy expressed by musicians are interplay, composition and creation, which serve as the basis for the individuality and common idea of the ensemble. The trio stands out with its clear and nuanced sound, which alternates with traditional interplay techniques (swing, afro-influence) and the winds of the New World (stolen, academic and Scandinavian music). The music features both Creole and African and voodoo influences, mixed with European Impressionism, Scandinavian and musicians’ own origins and traditional music. The upcoming album is a message from the trio leader and music author Kristaps Vanadziņš about the great and magical events of life – love, the laws of the universe and God’s love above all else.
“Listen” ir t. s. “spoken word”Or“ spoken poetry ”and improvised music project, in which a Latvian poet has met Alexandra Line, Latvian pianist Edgars Cīrulis and a Danish double bass player Alberts Reinholds Estergors (Albert Reinholdt Østergaard) to create stories together. Over the last four years, the project has received high marks from European music critics and radio stations in a changing international composition. Debut album “17” (Aleksandra Line, Toms Rudzinskis, Artis Orubs, Toms Mikāls) has been nominated for the Latvian Music Record of the Year Award “Golden Microphone” as “2018. the best jazz album of the year ”.
Alexandra Line writes poetry in Latvian, Russian and English. As a music manager, she is inspired by music and musicians. On a daily basis, Aleksandra works in the multimedia department of Latvian Radio, is a guest lecturer at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music and a co-founder of the Latvian jazz media “JAZZin.lv”.
Edgars Cīrulis is a Latvian pianist and composer, a nominee for the “Grand Music Prize” in the category “Young Artist of the Year”. Currently participating in projects where the boundaries of music genres merge, promoting communication between people, as well as creating a unique and true experience for each listener.
Danish composer and double bassist Alberts Reinholds Estergors In 2018, he received the title of Jazz Artist of the Year in Tversted (Routes), which makes him a full – fledged Nordic jazz musician. Inspired by Cuban and Brazilian jazz rhythms, adding Nordic harmonies to his music, Albert merges genres, sharing experiences, laughing and crying with his listener on his own musical journey.
