ANA and Singapore Airlines establish joint venture

ANA has entered into an extensive joint venture agreement with Singapore Airlines. With the agreement, the two leading Asian airlines want to further deepen their cooperation, according to a joint press release.

However, the planned joint venture still has to be approved by the respective regulatory authorities. It is intended to enable passengers to seamlessly use both airlines in the large shared network. Both airlines can now work together even more closely in key markets such as Australia, India, Indonesia or Malaysia. After the conclusion of the joint venture, they will be able to offer a wide range of joint tariff products, combine their frequent flyer programs and coordinate their entrepreneurial activities in order to become even more attractive for corporate customers.

The proposed joint venture goes beyond the existing partnership between the two airlines within the Star Alliance, which was previously limited to codeshare flights, cooperation within the live flight programs, access to the lounges and the coordination of check-in luggage on feeder connections.

“ANA is pleased to strengthen relationships with Singapore Airlines. The company shares our uncompromisingly passenger-oriented philosophy and has also distinguished itself as a true global market leader in terms of service and comfort, “said Yuji Hirako, President and CEO of ANA.” We have been working closely with Singapore Airlines for many years and are delighted “To further deepen this partnership. The joint venture will help ANA and Singapore Airlines further expand their reputation as a provider with first-class service, thereby differentiating themselves from the competition.”

“The planned joint venture underlines our commitment in the important Japanese market and the close cooperation with our esteemed partner ANA,” said Goh Choon Phong, CEO of Singapore Airlines. “This partnership enables customers to enjoy more flight frequencies and more travel comfort. You can take advantage of the strong combined offer of feeder flights at the Singapore and Tokyo hubs. “

When the joint venture is approved, Singapore Airlines is the third joint venture partner for ANA and the first Asian joint venture partner. ANA started a joint venture partnership with United Airlines in 2011 and with the Lufthansa Group in 2012.
