It is at the beginning of August that the Mutualité de la Réunion will present to the “walkers” the terms of this unique edition. The period of confinement that we have just gone through had direct consequences on the health of the 80,000 diabetics in Reunion. The confinement impacted the health of 80,000 diabetics from Reunion Island. Thus 50% of patients questioned during a survey carried out by the Mutualité de La Réunion, declared that they do much less sport than before. A quarter of them have completely stopped physical activity.
Regarding diet, more than half of people with diabetes were less vigilant about the quality of their diet and / or gained weight. A quarter of them said they had a sharp drop in morale. All of these factors (sport, diet and psychological balance) have immediate impacts on the stabilization of diabetes and harmful repercussions on the health of people with diabetes.
The troubled times we are going through can only remind us of how much health is a precious gift.
