The UBT-FGTB union has voiced strong concerns regarding the rise of flexi-jobs,highlighting a perceived shift away from stable employment towards precarious working conditions and a decline in social security contributions.
While flexi-jobs may offer a short-term solution to labor shortages, the union warns that they could exacerbate the problem in the long run. According to the UBT-FGTB, individuals employed on flexi-job contracts are not entitled to pension rights, unemployment benefits, or paid holidays, and are excluded from the social security system.
the union also pointed to a notable drop in social security contributions within the bus and coach sector, reporting a 10% decrease compared to the previous year.
Furthermore, the UBT-FGTB predicts that if other transport sectors adopt similar flexible employment models, the bus and coach sector could lose its current “temporary advantage,” possibly leading to a resurgence of labor shortages.
The organization maintains that the expansion of flexi-jobs undermines the principles of stable employment. They express concern that jobs, wich traditionally offer training, social protection, and security, may be replaced by fragmented services lacking rights and guarantees.
