Including those that are used to treat sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). As a result, gonorrhea can mutate, which will provoke an increase in the number of people infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) fivefold. In an interview with the publication, the experts explained that during the pandemic, many lost access to treatment for STDs, they were not diagnosed, and people self-medicated.
“This can lead to resistance of gonorrhea and the emergence of supergonorrhea, which will be insensitive to antibiotics,” – the doctor shared his point of view, while the doctor pointed out that antibiotics can be prescribed only in case of objective medical indications.
