Sony released today new PlayStation 5 system update. It is labeled 07.00 and brings a number of new features that were tested among selected players at the beginning of February.
The update enriches the console system with support for variable refresh rates in resolutions 1440passuming compatible hardware, including HDMI 2.1.
It was successfully tested and installed voice chat via Discord and chatting with friends across platforms. As part of the social functions, there was also the possibility to send a request to share the screen or start sharing the screen with a friend directly from their profile. In game centers, you can see if your friends own a certain game, who is currently online, and who is currently playing that title. Here, you can simply navigate to your friends’ profiles and discover more options.
Thanks to improvements to the game library, it is possible sort and filter games by platform, for example easily search for PS VR games as well as PS VR2 titles. The Game Centers have been further expanded to include information such as hours played and progress percentage.
The update offers more manually upload images and game clips from the PS5 console to the PlayStation App. Then you can easily share them on social networks or with friends.
It also came to updating the DualSense driver, which will no longer need to be connected to the PS5 via a USB cable after installing this update. Future updates will be wireless.
It’s also easier to transfer data between consoles. And in the US and UK, players can use voice commands to record clips: “Hey PlayStation, capture that!”, “Hey PlayStation, start recording” or “Hey PlayStation, stop recording”.
