As several states begin progressive deconfinement, how can we avoid a second wave of the epidemic?
One solution that has been circulated is to provide an “immunity passport” to people who have already contracted the disease, something that could theoretically be determined by antibody tests.
These documents would allow these people to get out of containment while others would wait for a vaccine to be developed.
Not proven
However, this is for many a bad idea: at this stage of the pandemic, there is not enough evidence of the effectiveness of antibody tests, and it is not proven not more than one person who has been infected with this coronavirus is immune for good, warns the World Health Organization (WHO).
“There is currently no evidence that people who have recovered from CoViD-19 and who have antibodies are protected from a second infection.”
