An EU country already has 80% fully vaccinated

Portugal has fully vaccinated 80% of its population against coronavirus, according to Reuters, citing official data from the country’s health authorities, which is among the most vaccinated in the world, and authorities are gradually lifting most COVID-19-related restrictions.

According to Reuters statistics, Portugal and the United Arab Emirates have the same percentage of full vaccinations and are at the forefront of this indicator worldwide, writes “Focus”.

The southern European country has vaccinated about 8.2 million of its population of just over 10 million, the health authority DGS said late Tuesday.

Almost all adults over the age of 65 and half of young people aged 12-17 are already fully vaccinated.

“I’m not worried about being number 1, 2 or 3 (in the world),” said Portuguese Admiral Henrique de Gouvea e Melo, head of the Portuguese Vaccination Task Force, after visiting a vaccination center near Lisbon over the weekend.

Wearing masks has ceased to be mandatory outdoors on Monday.

The registered cases of Covid-19 in Portugal so far are 1,058,347 and the deaths – 17,882.
