An Argentine adventurer held in Peru because of the closure of the border to limit the outbreak of the new Corona virus, he said he wanted to return home, but not without his dogs that he adopted during his travels.

“We are waiting in Lima for a humanitarian trip that takes my dog so we can travel to Argentina,” 33-year-old surfer Michael Grave told AFP.

After hiking and biking in most parts of Peru for 40 days, Gray arrived in Lima where he spent nights with the two animals in a tent near the Argentine embassy.

“I am waiting for a response from my government. Officials have told me that there are no flights, and that pets cannot enter the plane,” said Graeff, of the northeastern town of Puerto Rico, which was founded by Swiss and German settlers.

This young man recounted that he started his journey across South America before the epidemic spread. On his way through Colombia and Ecuador, he found two dogs and called them “Shamo” and “Nilo”.

“He did not abandon me and I do not intend to abandon them. I will take them with me either by air or by walk.”

He said he bought “shampoo” from a Venezuelan while he was walking through Colombia and got a “nilo” in Ecuador.

“I wanted to travel because I needed to get to know Latin America in order to learn about cultures and people,” he added.

Peru is the second most affected country by the Coronavirus in Latin America, after Brazil, with more than 260,000 infections and more than 8,400 deaths.
