An apprentice baker threatened with expulsion in Dijon – Dijoncter.info

Ibrahima Barry, an apprentice baker in Dijon, is threatened with expulsion. The story recalls the case of Laye Fodé Traore, a young apprentice baker from bisontin who obtained his regularization thanks to his boss’s hunger strike.

Ibrahima Barry’s story is told by France 3 Burgundy. In apprenticeship in Frédéric Tarride’s bakery since September 2019, this young Guinean will celebrate his 18th birthday on February 2. But with the majority it is the threats of expulsion that loom.

« Since November, those in charge of the hostel have told me that to stay here, to continue my work, I must obtain a residence permit. I can’t do this file because I don’t have my passport »Explains the young man at the microphone of France 3.

He must go to the prefecture this Friday, accompanied by an educator from the Acodege, who has been following him since they arrived in France. At the microphone of France 3, she explains that “ the prefecture asks for a passport that Ibrahima’s country, Guinea, does not issue. So these are certificates of non-issuance of passports issued by the embassy. Is this document not sufficient to make a first request for a residence permit? ? »

Frédéric Tarride, on the other hand, defends his apprentice. “ Ibrahima is a very good apprentice. We have just learned that in three weeks, he has no more work, he no longer has the right to have a salary, he no longer has the right to continue his training just because he would miss a paper for the prefecture. […] He has a consular identity card, he has all the papers, his birth certificate, everything he needs. Except his passport. It would be missing so that he can continue his learning. […] We, behind, we wanted to continue to make him work or even hire him. And we cannot because we are in this administrative situation which blocks us. »
