The need to have recourse to other people, if only to exchange a moment of conviviality, is one of the reasons for the existence of the Facebook page. Entraides agenaises and 47, mainly focused for the moment on the Agglo d’Agen, created at the height of the Covid crisis by Kévin Sterioux. Samia Achour – also president of the Bézis neighborhood committee – is one of the administrators, and explains the purpose of this page.

“I was also shocked by the case of a family who lived in a car”

Agenaise for seven years (she comes from Paris), she appreciates the human scale of the city and works in the social sector. She naturally decides to join this page as an administrator and moderator. “It’s about mutual aid. We help someone in difficulty, we lend a hand with a move, we donate dishes instead of throwing them away, we exchange to find carpooling: it’s very open, ”explains Samia Achour.

Services and friendliness

“We also give tips, for example the list of petrol stations where petrol is cheaper, the list of on-duty pharmacies, things that are used for everyday life. We also try to identify single elderly people, if only for moments of conviviality, but also to meet financial or food needs: we can take care of bringing parcels to someone who cannot move of the Secours populaire”, indicates the moderator.

“I was also shocked by the case of a family who lived in a car, because emergency housing assistance was slow… You can’t solve everything, but at least refer people to the right services. But thanks to the Entraides page, an owner offered an apartment to this family. »

valuable tool

On the other hand, Samia Achour, as moderator, takes care to identify profiteers, such as those who claim certain donations to resell them, or others who claim to be volunteers from a charity association to come and collect objects from people. “Everyone is free to do what they want, but I post warnings: be careful not to receive anyone at home. But Entraides Agenaises 47 remains a valuable tool for supporting each other, particularly in these times of crisis.

A democracy not so participatory?

Involved in the life of the city, the district president got angry when the town hall decided to rename Bézis, which was only number 20. “Very few people responded to the consultation. Bézis is only a small part of the district and this does not represent it. We proposed the Clos de l’Herberie, but we could have adapted. But the participative democracy advocated by the municipality only goes in one direction, and we feel it within the council: we see that the town hall seeks to guide us or does not listen to our choices. But we are not sheep…”, laments Samia Achour.
