an agreement now institutionalizes the courses of the “Huawei ICT Academy” in academic programs

The signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Huawei Cameroon Company: « Huawei Technologies Compagny Cameroon Limited » and Ministry of Higher Education, relating to the institutionalization of the « Huawei ICT Academy » in the academic programs of partner institutions and universities in Cameroon, took place this Thursday, March 25, 2021 in Yaoundé.

The documents which seal this partnership were initialed by Pr Jacques Fame Ndongo Minister of State in charge of Higher Education and the Vice-President in charge of Public Relations for Sub-Saharan Africa Huawei Northern Africa Region, Loise Tamalgo.

Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo, who presided over the signing of the said convention, specified in his speech that Huawei, by this act, “Undertakes to provide support to the State of Cameroon in the context of skills transfer and training for young people in the field of ICT.” The Ministry of Higher Education will facilitate the signing of specific agreements and support Huawei in the training and certification of deserving students of the HUAWEI ICT ACADEMY ”. He also presented Huawei’s investments and contributions in training Cameroonian students’ ICT know-how through the “Seeds for future” programs. ; « Huawei ICT Academy » and « Huawei ICT Competition ». “Huawei City Academy has already trained 65 teachers and nearly 1,000 students… The President of this Group has also granted a donation of 2,000 ICT training courses for the year 2021…” he clarified.

The Vice-President in charge of Public Relations-Northern Africa, Mr. Loîse TAMALGO, for his part thanked the Minister of State, Minister of Higher Education and the partner schools for their contribution to the training of talents and the transfer of ICT skills in Cameroon for which Huawei has officially committed in Cameroon since 2018. He did not fail to express his satisfaction and gratitude for this cooperation. “As a foreign company, the philosophy of Huawei Cameroon is to participate and support the strategy of the Government of Cameroon in the transfer of know-how in ICT to young students so that they are more competent in the job market. internationally, as well as at the request of employers in large companies and also a possibility of self-employment such as start-ups ”, did he declare.

For memory, « Huawei ICT Academy » is a strategic plan to develop local talents in ICT, this in response to the digital economy plan planned for 2035 by HE President Paul BIYA and in accordance with the long-term development strategy of the company. Huawei is a company founded in 1987, headquartered in Shenzhen, China, providing solutions in the information and communication technology (ICT) industry.
