Mohadese Mirzae lives in Sofia after leaving his family and his dream job in Afghanistan three months ago, writes the British Guardian newspaper.

At 23, Mirzae is the first lady pilot in civil aviation.

“I do not know where to go today, but I do not intend to give up. I started applying for a job as a pilot everywhere because I know I have to go back to flying, “said the young Afghan.

When the news broke that the Taliban had captured Kabul Mirzae, he was already at the airport in uniform, preparing for an evening flight to Istanbul. However, he did not take off at all. And while hundreds of Afghans stormed the international airport in the capital, Mirzae was transferred to a plane to Kiev – this time as a passenger, writes BNR.

In September last year, she became the first female pilot in her homeland, flying to Turkey, Saudi Arabia and India with the Air Air carrier.

She left for Bulgaria with an earlier visa, which is about to expire, and she was advised to seek asylum.

Her mother and sisters were evacuated from Afghanistan and left for Albania the same day the blasts struck crowds near Kabul airport, killing nearly 200 people.

“While I was studying, my mother always told me to return to Afghanistan to work for my homeland. I shared her conviction. But today, although I would like to return, I can’t. There is no place for women like me in Afghanistan anymore. I lost my job, my home, my crew – everything.

“I hope another airline will give me a chance to continue my career… I will fight for my passion,” says Mirzae.

Just months ago, Mirzae was one of the pilots of a Boeing 737 – the first all-female crew in the country’s aviation history.
