Today, May 18, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin said that Russia is ready to sell electricity to Ukraine from the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant taken under the control of the Russian military, or the station in Energodar will work for Russia. In the company “Ukrenergo” Focus at first they said that they did not comment, but then nevertheless posted on facebook page the official response to the remarks of the Russian Deputy Prime Minister.
It says there:
- ZNPP is in the Ukrainian network under the control of Ukrainian specialists.
- The energy system of Ukraine now has no physical links with the energy system of Russia. Therefore, the supply of electricity from Ukrainian power plants to Russia is now physically impossible.
- Any change in the situation at ZNPP would mean an act of nuclear terrorismand those who create such a threat will be held responsible for this, with all the consequences that follow.
“The Russian energy system went in the direction of the Russian ship,” – the head of Ukrenergo
“So, since the Ukrainian grid is disconnected from Russia and Belarus, Russian officials can promise to supply any electricity except to the Moskva cruiser, which is said to have power outages and limited mobility. The purpose of the statement is obvious: to destabilize active negotiations with the EU on opening the export of electricity from Ukraine. But the Russians will not be able to do this. Everyone in the EU understands that the Ukrainian network is European,” Ukrenergo said.
Previously focus wrote that Ukraine is undergoing synchronization processes with the European energy system, as a result of which it will carry out export-import operations with the European Union, while there will be no power flows with Russia and Belarus.
Recall that in early March, Russian troops occupied Energodar and invaded the nuclear power plant, and ZNPP employees were informedthat they are now subordinate to Rosatom.
