an 8th complaint for manslaughter filed against the Remiremont hospital

There are now 8 complaints against the hospital in Remiremont, in the Vosges, for manslaughter. Six judicial inquiries have also been opened, announced the public prosecutor of Epinal.

Several families denounce the loss of loved ones in circumstances that question. What is disturbing for the families is the similarity in the paths of most of the victims who enter the hospital in Remiremont, who are treated correctly at first, but suddenly their state of health deteriorates until an unexplained death.

Jennifer and Céline, the daughters of one of the patients, who died aged 67 last summer, filed a complaint to find out the truth. Their mother entered the hospital for a fractured femur, a successful operation. She stayed in the hospital for a week, but the day before she was discharged, she dies in a few hours without knowing why.

“The surgeon who operated on her tells us he doesn’t know what happened. She called at 6 a.m. complaining of pain in her lower back, she was given an electrocardiogram which was normal and when they came back an hour later she was dead,” said one of her daughters.

“Why she dies when my little sister sees her the day before and she is fine. She talks to her about her transfer at 11 a.m. the next day, that she prepares the things etc. We cannot grieve, we cannot not accept his death if we do not know the cause. Today, we want answers, we want to know the cause of the death of our mother, “adds her other daughter.

The hospital initially acknowledged that there may have been a communication problem with the families, but from a medical point of view, they believe they have nothing to be ashamed of.

“The hospital is sure of its processes, it is sure of the checks it has been able to do. We still have the impression that we are promoting something that does not exist”, explains Maître Frédéric Bernat, the hospital lawyer.

Justice takes these complaints seriously since six different judicial inquiries have already been opened.
