In Brazil, the AN-124 rolled out of the runway

When landing in Brazil, the AN-124 aircraft crossed the edge of the runway and stopped the front landing gear on soft ground.

At the Brazilian airport of Sao Paulo today, May 12, while landing, the transport aircraft AN-124 Ruslan of Antonov Airlines rolled out of the runway. The incident is reported by The Aviation Herald.

An Antonov An-124, registration number UR-82007, reportedly flying ADB-3829 from Paramaribo (Suriname) to São Paulo Guarulhos, carrying 60 tons of COVID-19 personal protective equipment for the Brazilian Ministry of Health, has landed in Sao Paulo.

When landing, the aircraft crossed the edge of the runway and came to a stop with the front landing gear on soft ground.

There were no casualties, the plane received minor damage. The airport authorities said the plane stopped about 200 meters from the end of the runway.

The runway was closed for approximately 2 hours until the plane was able to return to the paved surface within the runway. Brazilian agency CENIPA has launched an investigation.

Earlier it was reported that in December 2020, the AN-124 Ruslan delivered from French Toulouse to the NASA airfield in the United States, a satellite for Elon Musk’s SpaceX company.
