‘Among Us’ Receives Major Update with New Roles, Quality-of-Life Improvements
New roles and a revamped tutorial are now available in Among Us, enhancing gameplay and accessibility for both new and veteran players. Innersloth released version 17.0.0, introducing two new roles - the Detective and the Scientist – alongside a host of quality-of-life updates designed to streamline the experience.
The update arrives as Among Us continues to maintain a dedicated player base, even years after its initial viral surge. These changes aim to inject fresh strategic depth into the social deduction game, while together addressing long-standing usability concerns. The Detective and Scientist roles offer unique abilities, adding layers of complexity to the core gameplay loop of identifying imposters.
Beyond the new roles, the update reorganizes the “How to Play” guide, presenting the nine available roles in a scrollable list ordered from oldest to newest. Players will now be required to enter full ID codes on all maps – MIRA HQ, The Airship, and The Fungle - and the game now correctly displays a player’s current color when their preferred color is unavailable. Several gameplay bugs have also been addressed, including issues with hat sorting and identifying dead Crewmates.
In a separate collaboration, Among Us-inspired items have been added to Genshin Impact. HoYoverse worked with the Among Us team to design these items, drawing inspiration from a Crewmate character enjoying Genshin Impact during downtime. These items are available for a limited time and will be added directly to players’ inventories before disappearing.
Players can find more details about the Among Us update on the official Innersloth website: https://www.innersloth.com/games/among-us/.
