People called are told not to vote and should postpone it. The reasons given are varied, but all made up. For example, the queues at the polling stations would be too long. It is an attempt to suppress voting, said the Michigan Attorney General.
Residents of Iowa, Pennsylvania and Florida also received the robocalls. These are states that can decide who ultimately wins the election, President Trump or his challenger Biden.
It’s unclear to what extent the robocalls actually deterred Americans from voting.
