Director Tony Kaye managed to get high marks with his film American History X, in which Edward Norton sparkled. Despite the fact that the recordings did not go completely smoothly, Kaye has now decided to come up with a kind of successor, called African History Y.

Kaye has already found his protagonist in actor Djimon Hounsou, known from Gladiator in Guardians of the Galaxy. African History Y will be set in Africa and will be a ‘story of tragedy and redemption’. Furthermore, only a fair amount is known about the project.

Director Kaye speaks out about the film during a recent interview: ”Djimon and I met right after American History X. I immediately knew I wanted to work with him and now we’ve finally found the right project. Can’t wait to get started”.

Hounsou would also have signed for the film because he says he wants to tell more special African stories, something Kaye is planning with African History Y.
