The US presidential election is often reduced to a duel between a Democratic candidate and a Republican candidate. However, there are in fact very many candidates. This year, the Federal Electoral Commission counted 1224, including rapper Kanye West. But it is Jo Jorgensen who can claim the title of leader of these “small” candidates.

This 63-year-old woman from Illinois is the only one with Donald Trump and Joe Biden to have been able to present his candidacy in the 50 states of the country.
She defended the colors of the libertarian party. Created in 1971 by former Democrats and Republicans, this political formation defends a deregulated economy in which the state intervenes as little as possible.

It also advocates a broader vision of individual freedoms. Jo Jorgensen, for example, was very critical of the restrictions imposed on the United States to fight against Covid-19.
In bulk, it is also for the carrying of weapons, the legalization of same-sex marriage and the decriminalization of drugs. “My plan is to turn America into a giant and armed Switzerland”, says Jo Jorgensen on his website.
A program that did not create a surprise. Jo Jorgensen, gathered more than 1.6 million votes on his name, or 1.1% of the votes cast. It achieves its best scores in North Dakota (2.6%), South Dakota (2.6%) and Montana (2.5%), three Republican states.
Worse scores than in 2016
In Wisconsin, it only collects 38,000 votes (1.2%), but it is more than the gap between Joe Biden and Donald Trump in that state.
Honorable figures but far from those Gary Johnson who had achieved 3.28 in 2016. This former Republican had even won a score of 9.34% in New Mexico, state of which he was the governor between 1995 and 2003.
