American actor and Oscar winner William Hurt (71) has died

William Hurt rose to fame in the 1980s. He played roles in such films as “Body Heat” (1981), “Gorky Park” (1983), “The Big Chill” (1983), “Kiss of the Spider Woman” (1985) , “Children of a Lesser God” (1986) and “Broadcast News” (1987).

William Hurt received an Oscar and the Best Actor award at the Cannes Film Festival for his leading role in Hector Babernco’s Brazilian film “The Kiss of the Spider Woman”. He played the part of Luis Molina, a homosexual who ends up in a cell with the leftist revolutionary Valentin. The intention is that he tries to get secrets from his fellow inmates, but that turns out somewhat differently.

He also acted regularly and was nominated for a Tony Award in 1985. That is a prize for theater productions and actors on Broadway, in New York.
