Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The United States (US) government on Wednesday (10/20/2021) outlined its plans to vaccinate millions of children aged 5 to 11 years from the Covid-19 virus with a vaccine made by Pfizer. This is to anticipate the holiday season that will soon arrive.
Quotes AFP, The administration, led by President Joe Biden, will give the injection as soon as the proposal is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The White House said it was ready to distribute the Pfizer vaccine as soon as this was approved.
“The plan will ensure quick, convenient, and equitable provision to families across the country,” the White House said in a statement.
The FDA is currently reviewing Pfizer’s vaccine application for approval of a 2-dose vaccine for children ages 5 to 11 years. In making this decision, the FDA will coordinate with the Panel and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
If this proposal is approved, then 28 million children in Uncle Sam’s country will be included in the eligible group as recipients. This will also later make the US the first country in the world to grant such permission to children.
Health experts themselves say that the distribution of vaccines must be carried out optimally by the White House so that once this proposal is ratified, vaccination of children will proceed quickly.
“We have to be prepared to ensure that we can give the vaccine to families as soon as the FDA and CDC make their decisions,” said US Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy.
