An interminable meeting. Or almost.
If Atlético Mineiro won this Thursday night against the Colombians of America de Cali (1-3) on the fourth day of the Copa Libertadores, the meeting had a lot of trouble going to an end. In question, an anti-government demonstration which took place near the Romelio Mártinez stadium, den located in Barranquilla (where the meeting was relocated because of the works in the usual enclosure of America, the Olympic stadium Pascual Guerrero). The police thus used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators, forcing the meeting to be delayed, then interrupted five times.

Despite the irritation caused by the gas, the referee still wanted to end the game. “We know what is currently happening in the country, we experienced it today during the meeting” , reacted Adrián Ramos, former Borussia Dortmund and captain of Red Devils. These protests, symbol of the social crisis that the country has been going through for several weeks and caused by a plan to increase taxes supported by Colombian President Iván Duque, in order to alleviate the economic impact of the pandemic, threaten the holding of the Copa America scheduled for Colombia and Argentina from June 11 to July 10.
Since the start of the protests in Colombia, at least 42 people have lost their lives there.
