After the launch of two Amazon Go’s in Seattle this year, the American giant is opening a new store concept in New York, which is still very different: Amazon 4-Star. Far from the cashless store dedicated to food purchases, the new store, opened on September 27 in the Soho district, will bring together games, small appliances, books and even electronic products. But not just any. Only the most popular articles from the e-commerce site will be on the shelves. Either those who display at least four stars out of the 5 offered by Amazon.
Among them, the Echo Spot, with its 4.5 stars and its 5,600 consumer reviews. But also the popular 4.8-star Codename board game. “Today, the selected products have an average of 4.4 stars. 1.8 million of them even reach the five“, says Amazon on his blog.
A store organized according to customer preferences
Besides the products, the store itself has been organized according to customer preferences. We thus find the products classified in different sections among which “the most wanted”, the “products often bought together” and even “the most popular items in New York”.
On the shelves, each item is presented with a label indicating the number of stars and opinions collected, as well as two prices: the normal price in store, and the price of the product online, from 20% to 25% cheaper. The latter is reserved for Prime members, who can pay the same price as on the site from the store. What motivate non-members to become one. Amazon also offers to subscribe, directly at the cash desk, to a one-month trial. The customer will then be able to benefit from the reduction offered on the same day.
Last advantage for visitors to the new store: the possibility of testing certain devices of the brand on site, such as Echo or Kindle. But also smart home accessories that work with Amazon’s Alexa assistant.
