Amazon Netherlands opens the digital doors for third parties NOW

Companies that also want to sell their products via Amazon.nl can register with the web giant from Wednesday. Amazon.nl now only sells books.

The intention is that in the course of this year “millions of products” will be for sale via the site, which will explicitly compete with the Dutch bol.com.

In Germany, for example, the originally American Amazon is also prominent on the internet. Dutch buyers are now being redirected to the Dutch version of the German site.

“We look forward to expanding the number of product categories,” said Alex Ootes, responsible for the European expansion of Amazon in an explanation. “We are delighted to now offer both large and small Dutch companies the opportunity to sell on Amazon.nl and our other European sites.”

Bol.com may also want to start selling clothing

Bol.com previously stated that it would be “logical” for this Dutch platform to arm itself in the battle with Amazon by also expanding its product range, possibly with clothing. Third parties, other companies, can also sell their products at bol.com.

Amazon also allows third parties to sell products on its website for much longer in the countries where it is already active on a large scale. “More than half of Amazon’s sales worldwide are now handled by partners.”
