The woman and her three children, aged 10, 12 and 14, had in fact more than a frugal diet: the group had to eat seeds, plants and berries found in the jungle.

After 34 days, they happily encountered members of the Secoya indigenous group near the village of Yubito.

They warned the Peruvian navy, which dispatched a hovercraft to bring the surviving family to Colombia. Suffering from malnutrition, dehydration and covered with bites, the mother and her three children were hospitalized.
