Amazon Invests $68 Million in AI PhD Talent with New Fellowship Program,University of Washington Among Inaugural Partners
SEATTLE,WA – amazon has launched a $68 million AI phd Fellowship program,aiming to support promising doctoral students and accelerate impactful artificial intelligence research. The University of Washington is a key partner in the initiative, with nine students – seven from the Paul G. Allen School of computer Science & Engineering – selected as fellows.
the program will provide funding covering tuition,stipends,and fees,with each participating university receiving $1.1 million annually. Universities prioritized candidates whose work addresses practical AI challenges, following guidance from Amazon. Fellows will benefit from mentorship provided by Amazon scientists through regular liaisons, and opportunities for summer internships at amazon.

the University of Washington already maintains several research collaborations with Amazon, including the Amazon Hubs program, the Amazon Scholar program, and Amazon Research Awards.
Other participating universities include Carnegie Mellon University, Johns Hopkins University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford university, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of California, Los Angeles, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign.
