Although Nutritious, These Foods Are Not Recommended for Arthritis Sufferers

SUKABUMIUPDATE.com – A balanced nutritious food is one of the keys to a healthy life. However, it turns out that not all nutritious foods can be consumed by people with arthritis or arthritis because it can worsen the symptoms.

Quoting Tempo.co, Caroline Peyton, a nutritionist at the Peyton Principles, London, England, said one of the foods was sardines and mackerel. These two types of nutritious marine fish actually contain very high purines.

Purines are a type of chemical compound found in foods and beverages that are part of a normal diet.

According to Peyton, gout is made from purines contained in food. Some healthy foods contain high purines that can trigger the production of uric acid which becomes crystals around the joints.

“In the body if uric acid levels are raised, it can produce crystals that form in the joints,” Peyton was quoted as saying by the Daily Express, Wednesday, August 5, 2020.

High purine content is also contained in red meat, mushrooms, cauliflower, and nuts.

Instead of protein and omega 3 fatty acids from fish, arthritis sufferers can take fish oil supplements. A number of studies say that consumption of 600 mg to 1,000 mg of fish oil per day can reduce inflammation that causes joints to become stiff, swollen and aching.

Arthritis is a common condition that causes pain and inflammation in the joints. Osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis are the two most common types of arthritis.

Both forms of arthritis can cause swelling and stiffness in the joints. The main difference between osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis is the cause behind joint symptoms.

Osteoarthritis is caused by joints that are “worn out”, whereas rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the body’s own joints.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for arthritis but you can reduce the symptoms by adopting a healthy lifestyle.
