Although Can Cavani, Transfer MU Still Disappointing

Jakarta

Manchester United bring in Edinson Cavani on the last day of the summer transfer window. Nevertheless, Dimitar Berbatov judged that MU did not fix its biggest problem.

Throughout this summer, MU has been widely reported to be interested in Jadon Sancho. However, the Red Devils failed to land the young England winger because they did not agree with Borussia Dortmund about the price.

In the end, MU brought Cavani. The Uruguayan striker was obtained free of charge after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain ended.

Cavani is not the only player to come to Old Trafford on the final day of the transfer window this summer. MU also recruited Alex Telles from Porto and Facundo Pellistri.

That means Manchester United get four new players in this transfer window. Previously, they had received Donny van de Beek from Ajax.

However, Dimitar Berbatov thinks MU made a mistake in the transfer market this time. This is because they did not bring in a new center-back in the midst of defensive performances such as Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, and Harry Maguire who received sharp attention.

MU actually let go Chris Smalling permanently to AS Roma. Berbatov thinks MU should keep Smalling.

“Disappointment among United fans will now deepen in recent weeks,” Berbatov told Betfair as reported Mirror.

“I saw them getting (Edinson) Cavani and (Alex) Telles and now the market is closed without a center-back signing.”

“I’ve been saying for weeks that I think they need a center-back and this shows that Ole believes in an existing player, but I feel they should sign someone.”

“I wonder if they should keep Chris Smalling, who is incredible at Roma, but a lot of times when you loan players out it is a sign that they are done,” he said.
