NEW YORK – New Yorkers in New York City will no longer have to move their cars more than once a week during the summer.
This was announced by Mayor Bill de Blasio during his press conference on Tuesday as part of a new change in the alternate parking rules.
Starting June 29, the day the alternate parking rules resume, the streets will be cleaned only once a week as opposed to before when they were cleaned two or more times a week.
In New York City, there are streets that have signs with different cleaning days that residents have to move the car. However, during the summer from June 29 they will only be cleaned on the last day announced on the sign. After the first week of testing, the city will decide whether to continue or suspend the rules depending on the street conditions for each week.
So, for example, if the sign says cleaning Tuesday and Friday this will take place only on Friday and not on Tuesday.
