National figures

For the second day in a row, approximately 65,000 positive results of corona tests have been registered nationwide. Between Sunday morning and Monday morning, 64,757 confirmed infections were passed on to RIVM. That is slightly lower than the record number of 65,351 positive tests on Sunday.

RIVM is still struggling with a large backlog, but it has become slightly smaller. Some 46,000 positive tests have not yet been registered in the past seven days. On Sunday, the counter stood at about 48,000 positive tests over six days.

Maximum test capacity

The labs that determine whether people tested have the coronavirus are reaching their maximum capacity today. That is 150,000 test samples per day. This is announced by the umbrella organization GGD GHOR Nederland.

It is not possible to test more people than is already happening. As a result, people may have to wait longer for their test when they try to make an appointment.

Hospitals

In Drenthe, 12 people with a corona infection are currently in hospital, 2 of which are in intensive care, the Acute Care Network North Netherlands reports.

Nationally, there are still 1,141 patients with the corona virus among members in hospital. That is 48 more than Sunday, according to the most recent figures from the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS). In intensive care units, the number of covid patients continued to decline. There are currently 262 corona patients, 13 fewer than on Sunday.
