Producing a strong and severe legal reform that applies justice to violations, corruption and treason to the nation, as crimes against the homeland, is one of the proposals contemplated in the draft of a new Constitution.
This was announced by the president of the Permanent Constitutional Commission of the National Constituent Assembly, Hermann Escarrá, during the virtual forum The constituent as an emancipatory process for peoples.
Escarrá pointed out that the Constitution must be serious and very firm in the application of legal norms and consequences. The revocation of nationality, confiscation and other aspects, always within the framework of international law, never through arbitrary forms or denying the right to defense, proposals that are under study by specialists.
With regard to parliamentary immunity, he called to strengthen the inviolability of the deputies in their right of expression and debate, “to say what they consider necessary, but not to commit crimes,” he said.
He said that this debate is going to continue, but that the figure is disappearing, it no longer exists in England, where it was born, and it is diminished in France.
